When must you pay Zakat.
You must pay everytime you receive income. If you get paid bi weekly then you most pay bi weekly. If you get paid everyday then you most pay everyday etc.
[Quran 6:141] ” ……….. give the due alms (Zakat) on the day of harvest, and do not waste anything. He does not love the wasters.”
Who is eligible for Zakat meaning who it is paid out to.
- Your parents
- Your relatives
- The orphans
- The poor
- The traveling alien
[Quran 2:215] They ask you about giving: say, “The charity you give shall go to the parents, the relatives, the orphans, the poor, and the traveling alien.” Any good you do, God is fully aware thereof.
With this proof Zakat cannot be paid out to a masjid or any other recipient not defined in the above verse from Allah.
How much most you pay in Zakat.
There’s no specific amount and it depends on the persons income. The notion of 2.5 percent is made up and don’t exist in Quran. The Quran defines the Zakat payment from ‘al-afwoo’, which is what a person is able to give away without incurring any great hardship. Obviously this amount will differ from person to person depending on their income.
“….They ask you what to give, say: ‘al-afw’. God thus clarifies the revelations for you so that you may reflect.” [Quran 2:219].
